Public Health

The Trace’s public health coverage examines emerging trends in gun violence research, developments on the policy level, and various strategies for reducing and preventing firearm injury. Our reporting spans established community interventions as well as little-known approaches in tracking the gun violence crisis, and seeks to offer a reliable stream of stories to help inform and direct community leaders, researchers, advocates, and people who are concerned about the gun violence crisis. Here, you’ll find reporting from our entire team, and particularly from The Trace’s public health reporter, Fairriona Magee, who has recently covered maternal health, rural access to healthcare, and the convergence of opioids and firearms.
